REVIEW of first in-class session:
1. Review class venus account functions. Configure venus www directory and create first index.html file (see twu.edu website, ITS, "how-tos" AND/OR lecture notes from legacy coursesite for click-by-click instructions.)

3. Review legacy web site (inherited from Spring 1999 class.) Consider whether we'd like to redesign the site as a collaborative project (to satisfy this semester's added research component.) Prepare to discuss inherited webs, issues with the legacy sites, and redesign OR propose alternative (individual or group) research component.
4. Locate and review the December book linked-to in the legacy site (configure your mcp.com account, and review the site's holdings relevant to web design, html.)
5. Read D'Angelo and Little article (linked to on legacy site) and D'Angelo and twining article "Comprehension by Clicks" (linked to from http://www.intertwining.org/twining/vita.htm
Research "collaborative and/or web design" and permutations. Locate models/principles and bring to second class session.
Locate resources (books, websites, magazines, etc.) ABOUT web design, including html coding manuals, resources. Bring your preferred resources to second session.
5. THINK (before you click) about the topic and audience for the three-layered, interlinked web site you will create individually. Come to second session prepared to discuss.
REVIEW of second in-class session:
Continue as above, AND
re-review the D'Angelo standards for web design, prepare to discuss;
for your individual website, select a key phrase that captures the "aboutness" of your web. Prepare to articulate (Keep It Simple) the purpose, objectives, audience, (domain, presentation, specifications, etc., per the December "unleashed" model and the Burgman collaboration model) . Be prepared to classify your content into three logical layers (i.e. red, green, blue.) We will build the file architecture AND begin building the navigation system for your webs NEXT lab. Begin identifying potential (real or imaginary) design team members. Imagine possible ontologies for a webring among your individual projects student Webs now connected!) Use forum, chat, and class email to share and discuss purpose, objectives, audience, etc.; building teams, technicalities; ASK FOR HELP, etc.
HINT: if you'd like to schedule a class CHAT session: post an invitation to the class list with suggested date, time, topic.
assemble and configure your design tools: html editor, ftp software, web browser(s), graphics programs, etc.;
